HISTORY
The first meeting for Luna County Housing Corporation (LCHC) was held on December 1, 2000. Their goal was to become their own non-profit corporation, a recognized CDHO and to provide safe affordable housing to the residents of Deming and Luna County. On December 12, 2000 the Deming City Council passed a resolution to sponsor LCHC through their start up and until they were recognized as their own 501 (c) (3) non-profit. LCHC received its non-profit designation in 2002 and became a CHDO on October 27, 2003.
Since that time, our work has expanded to Hidalgo and Grant Counties. Rehab projects are done in all three counties. Home Buyer Education classes will be offered in Hidalgo and Grant Counties in the coming year. LCHC is seeking new projects which expand the scope of our services and enhance the housing options of the residents of our area.
At the September 2010 board meeting, the name was officially changed to Southwestern Regional Housing and Community Development Corporation to better reflect the full scope of work being done.
What we have done.
Our first project was Mariposa Village Apartments for seniors and individuals with disabilities at 901 S. Tennyson Dr. Deming.
